Hospitality
This committee is charged with providing hospitality to the students, teachers, and staff of GSMST periodically throughout the year. Volunteers may also be asked to contribute / solicit contributions for food or other items like paper goods, cutlery, beverages, chips packets and the like for distribution at various hospitality events throughout the school year. Seeking donations from local businesses is also acceptable. The hospitality committee is a year-round committee and expected to comprise of several volunteers, with no one person expected to participate in all hospitality events. Students may also help with hospitality events, and are eligible to receive volunteer hours for the time they put in. Fundraising
This committee plans, organizes and implements all fundraising activities of the PTSA. It involves distribution of fundraising materials as well as volunteering to be present at GSMST PTSA fundraising events. Our goal is to generate extra money for the PTSA, besides membership dues. This money is typically used to fund student scholarships, teacher and staff appreciation events, and gifts to the school (trophy cases, video screens). This year we are going to incorporate a raffle/silent auction during our International Night. We expect that there will be several people that are part of this committee. International Night
International night is a spectacular annual event at GSMST. Students, teachers, and the PTSA work together to put together a spectacular pot pourri of food, music, dance, and entertainment from all over the world, to celebrate our school’s diversity. This event typically takes place in January and requires many hands and feet to make it a success. It is arguably the marquee PTSA event of the year. The International Night committee advertises for student and parent volunteers in November/December and creates a student sub-committee. They hold 2 days of dress-rehearsal/auditions for student talent as soon as the winter break ends. At least 3 adult judges, typically PTSA members, have to approve the content and the costumes for appropriateness. Reflections
PTA Reflections –
Reflections is a National PTA sponsored arts recognition program that encourages artistic expression. The Reflections theme for 2023-2024 is “I am Hopeful Because…”. Use your imagination to create a film, song, artwork, photograph, poem, short story or dance routine. You may enter as many times as you like in as many categories as you like.
Categories Include: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts
